Miren este video de Diane Laufenberg. En esta TED talk, ella habla sobre el aprendizaje  a través de la experiencia, el empoderamiento de las voces de los estudiantes, y adoptar al aprendizaje y terminar con la "cultura de una sola respuesta es correcta". Habla de buscar una escuela que valide su creencia de como aprender los chicos. Para ella, "El aprendizaje tiene que inlcuir una determinada cantidad de fracaso, porque el fracaso es parte del proceso de aprendizaje".

Asimov's vision of our knowledge society 23 years ago does not stop amazing us: "enormous libraries connected to your computer where anyone can ask any questions, in your own home, at you own speed, at your own direction, in your own time....everyone will enjoy learning."

He even mentions the posibility of OLPC Program...who else could've forseen it? Asimov. Could the world actually supply with clean water or computers for everyone? As he said: "Perhaps not at the very start...But you try for it...you might get it on the long run....anyone, anywhere can learn by himself" Hopefully, the future will prove that he was right about the clean water, too...

La visión de Asimov de nuestra sociedad del conocimiento hace 23 años no deja de maravillarnos: "Enormes bibliotecas conectadas a nuestra computadora donde cualquiera podrá realizar preguntas, desde su propio hogar,a su propia velocidad, yendo en su propia dirección, a su propio tiempo...todos disfrutarán del aprendizaje". Incluso menciona la posibilidad del programa OLPC (One Laptop per child)....Quién mas

podría haberlo previsto? Asimov. ¿ Puede el mundo proveer de agua potable o de computadoras para todos? 

Como él  mismo lo dice: “Tal vez no al principio…pero uno trata y tal vez lo logre en el largo plazo…cualquiera, en cualquier parte puede aprender por sí mismo”. Esperemos que el futuro demuestre que estaba en lo cierto en cuanto al agua potable también.

Universal Design for Learning is a set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn.

El Diseño Universal de aprendizaje consiste en una serie de principios para desarrollar un curriculum que otorgue a todos los individuos las mismas oportunidades de aprender.

UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone--not a single, one-size-fits-all solution but rather flexible approaches that can be customized and adjusted for individual needs.

 “DUA” provee de un modelo base para crear objetivos generales y específicos, métodos, materiales y evaluaciones que funcionen para todos los estudiantes, no solo para algunos. No se basa en la idea de que una sola herramienta es aplicable para todos, sino que considera que existen diferentes enfoques que pueden adaptarse y ajustarse a las necesidades individuales de los estudiantes.

Bullying/ Acoso escolar

President Obama and first Lady, Michelle, called for a united effort to address bullying.
The video shows their concern, and the need, as a nation, to stop this social issue that is destroying safe school environments.

El Presidente Obama y la Primera Dama, Michelle, solicitaron esfuerzo por parte de la comunidad estadounidense para poder resolver el problema de "bullying" o acoso escolar (no existe la traducción exacta en español y decidimos denominarlo "acoso escolar" por se lo más cercano a su significado).

El video muestra la preocupación de ambos y la necesidad de enfrentar este problema como nación, debido a que está destruyendo el ambiente escolar seguro y estable para los niños.

21st Century Learners: Some clues about them.Los alumnos del siglo XXI: algunas pistas sobre ellos.

This video was posted in November, 2007.
It shows a reality that is still relevant. It brings us back to the discussion we had about Digital native students and Digital immigrant teachers, during our Summer Camp. As you might remember, we talked about the differences between the way digital natives prefer to learn, and they way digital immigrants prefer to teach.


Este video fue producido en Noviembre de 2007. Muestra una realidad que aun hoy es relevante. Y nos trae nuevamente a la discusion que tuvo lugar en el Campamento de Verano, cuando planteamos y analizamos las diferencias entre los estudiantes nativos digitales y los docentes inmigrantes digitales. Como probablemente recuerden, hablamos de las diferencias entre la forma en que los nativos digitales prefieren aprender, y la forma en que los inmigrantes digitales prefieren enseñar.


 "Teach me to think," "Whatever, Whenever, Wherever," "Tell me a story digitally," "Engage me, Engage me, Engage me!" These will be some of the things the students will claim for on the video!
We wonder what the teachers would be claiming for: "Training, training, training," "Resources!"  And much more...Post a comment and let us know what you think should follow! What would your sign read? Maybe one day we'll get together again and film that video...
